The aim of the Shekinah Theological Research Institute is the cultivation of Christian theology on a high level. Beside organising sequences of lectures and conferences in international and Hungarian forums, the Institute intends to make the results of research work accessible for the academic world through sophisticated publications. Its members are theologians of various Christian denominations, who are not only committed to academic life, but also to the renewal of the internal catechesis of their own denomination. The essence of modern and fastidious theological work includes a live dialogue with the widest social public. This is why the threefold profile of Shekinah Research Institute for Theology – according to the academic, religious and social public – already requires an ecumenical, interdisciplinary and dialogue-oriented presence from its members. In the third millennium, thinking about the presence of God, we define ourselves as a scientific community. Our community is born, beyond the existence of theologian charisma, in a sensitivity towards the questions of our environment. Having become thoroughly acquainted with the safe and familiar walls of our Christian traditions from the inside, we would like to open a door towards others, relying on the motives of the Spirit. Shekinah Research Institute for Theology is committed to the independence of entering into scientific discussion; this is why it does not accept support eliminating the autonomy of thinking. Instead, we expect the supportive presence of those agreeing with our goals. Shekinah Research Institute for Theology is interdisciplinary, because without exception, its researchers have begun their careers in a different scientific field beyond theology, which as an enduring trace helps the pursuers of theology to enter into substantial dialogue with the society of our age. This is how the sciences of media, law, language and literature encompass our theological activity.

Ziel des Shekinah Research Institute for Theology ist die Pflege der christlichen Theologie auf hohem Niveau. Es strebt neben der Organisation von internationalen und nationalen Foren, Vortragsreihen und Konferenzen für die akademische Welt auch die Zurverfügungstellung seiner Forschungsergebnisse durch niveauvolle Publikationen an. Seine Mitglieder haben sich als Theologen verschiedener christlichen Konfessionen neben dem akademischen Leben auch zur Erneuerung des Katechismus innerhalb ihrer eigenen Konfession verpflichtet. Einen Teil der Essenz der modernen und niveauvollen theologischen Arbeit macht der mit der breiten Öffentlichkeit geführte öffentliche Dialog aus. Gerade deshalb verlangt das Dreifachprofil des Instituts – gemäß der akademischen, kirchlichen und gesellschaftlichen Öffentlichkeit – eine ökumenische, interdisziplinäre und ialogorientierte Präsenz von seinen Mitgliedern. Wir definieren uns selbst, über die Gegenwart Gottes im dritten Jahrtausend nachdenkend, als eine wissenschaftliche Gemeinschaft. Unsere emeinschaft wird über dem Vorhandensein des theologischen Charismas hinaus in einer auf die Fragen unseres Umfeldes empfindlichen Art und Weise geboren. Unser Ziel ist es uns anderen auf Anreiz des Geistes verlassend, nach gründlichem Kennenlernen unserer christlichen Traditionen innerhalb unserer sicheren und stabilen Wände zu öffnen. Das Institut hat sich der Selbständigkeit des Anschlusses an den wissenschaftlichen Diskurs verpflichtet, deshalb nimmt es keinerlei Unterstützungen an, die sich die Unterdrückung des selbständigen Denkens zur Aufgabe gemacht haben. Wir hoffen jedoch auf die Unterstützung derjenigen, die sich mit unseren Zielen identifizieren können.

A Shekinah Teológiai Kutatóintézet célja a keresztény teológia magas színvonalú művelése. Az akadémiai világ felé nemzetközi és magyarországi fórumokon előadássorozatok és konferenciák szervezése mellett a kutatómunka gyümölcseit igényes publikációkban szeretné elérhetővé tenni. Tagjai a különböző keresztény felekezetek teológusai, akik az akadémiai élet mellett elkötelezettek saját felekezetük belső katekézisének megújításában is. A korszerű és igényes teológiai munka esszenciájához tartozik a legszélesebb társadalmi nyilvánossággal folytatott élő párbeszéd is. Éppen ezért a Shekinah Teológiai Kutatóintézet hármas profilja – az akadémiai, egyházi és társadalmi nyilvánosság szerint – eleve ökumenikus, interdiszciplináris és dialógusorienált jelenlétet kíván tagjaitól. Isten jelenlétéről a harmadik évezredben gondolkodva tudományos közösségként határozzuk meg magunkat. Közösségünk a teológus karizma meglétén túl, a környezetünk kérdéseire érzékeny jelenlétben születik meg. Keresztény hagyományaink biztonságos és bevett falait belülről alaposan megismerve, a Lélek indíttatásaira hagyatkozva szeretnénk kilépni mások felé. A Shekinah Teológiai Kutatóintézet elkötelezett a tudományos diskurzusba való bekapcsolódás függetlensége mellett, ezért a gondolkodói önállóságot felszámoló támogatásokat nem fogad el. E helyett a céljainkkal egyetérteni tudók támogató jelenlétére számítunk.
A Shekinah Teológiai Kutatóintézet interdiszciplináris, mivel kutatói kivétel nélkül a teológián túl más tudományterület művelőiként kezdték pályájukat, ami maradandó nyomként abban is segíti a teológia művelőit, hogy korunk társadalmával érdemi párbeszédre lépjenek. Média-, jog, nyelv- és irodalomtudomány így övezik teológiai tevékenységünket.
